Platinum-rhodium thermocouples have the highest accuracy, best stability, wide temperature range, long service life and high temperature limit in the thermocouple series. It is suitable for use in oxidizing and inert atmospheres. It can also be used in vacuum for a short period of time, but it is not suitable for use in reducing atmospheres or in metal or non-metal vapor atmospheres. An obvious advantage of the Type B thermocouple is that it does not require compensation with a compensation wire because the thermoelectric potential is less than 3 μV in the range of 0 to 50 °C.
Disadvantages: The lack of platinum-rhodium thermocouples is thermoelectric potential, small thermoelectric potential rate, low sensitivity reading, low mechanical strength at high temperature, very sensitive to pollution, expensive precious metal materials, and therefore a large one-time investment.
Platinum-rhodium thermocouples work on the principle that when a platinum-rhodium thermocouple is joined by a conductor of two different components, when the temperature of the two junctions is different, a thermal current is generated in the loop. If there is a temperature difference between the working end of the thermocouple and the reference junction, the display meter will indicate the temperature value corresponding to the thermoelectric potential generated by the thermocouple.

Platinum rhodium thermocouple selection: It is recommended to use a single platinum rhodium thermocouple (platinum rhodium 10-platinum) when the measured temperature is normal at 1000~1300 °C. It is recommended to use a double platinum rhodium thermocouple when the measured temperature is normal at 1200~1600 °C.
